Choosing School Shoes for Kids
January 27, 2016 at 3:19 PM
Children spend around eight hours a day in their school shoes. That's around 1600 hours throughout the school year! That's a lot of work for a pair of shoes.
Here is what we expect out of them:
Water resistance
They may have to survive a storm or two
Durability
Kids won't just be walking in them, they'll be kicking a ball, running around and jumping in puddles in them at lunch time
Breathability
Kid's feet sweat far more than adult feet, so wearing a closed-in shoe all year round will breed bacteria and fungus
Comfort
Remember the 40 hours a week these shoes put in?
Check out our infographic below, which shows you what to look for in a school shoe...

Before you head out to buy school shoes:
Go into a reputable shoe store (e.g. Shoe Science, Shoe Clinic, Athlete's Foot etc) where they can measure the feet for the correct length AND width.
Don't be afraid to give the shoes a proper test - touch, feel, push and pull. Then get your child to try on at least two different options.
